Another day in Mumbai

I had a great evening with my team in Mumbai.  We met after work at a restaurant called Global Fusion.

It was a nice selection of food and deserts, but the company was the highlight.  It is wonderful to meet people in person who you have been working with via email and phone for some time.  You get to see how the team interacts together, and the individual personalities of each person.

It was a nice interaction, and worth the trip just for this one reason.

First full day in Mumbai

This was a fun day!  I woke up a bit late to allow recovery from the entire day of travel and got moving in the early afternoon.  I took a short walk outside of the hotel premise to get an idea of where I am.  It was about 2 in the morning when I arrived, so I could not see much on the way in.

I went to meet the nice folks at the office and received a very nice reception.  Afterwards, my gracious host took us to the South side of Mumbai to walk along the sea and see a few things.  We got out of the car to take a look at The Taj,

and the Gateway to India.

Then went further to walk along the sea.

It was a nice walkway, with lots of couples, friends and families enjoying the evening ocean breeze.

After the enjoying the evening walk, we headed to Leopold’s for some beer and appetizers.  Neat bar and the food was very good.  We tried the barbecue chicken, steamed chicken wonton, and another appetizer that was a good vegetarian item with Indian cheese in it, and a bit of spice…I will have to confirm the name of the dish later!

The ride back to the hotel allowed some of the travel fatigue to set in, but it was a great first day, and an enjoyable evening!

Leg 2, and rest of trip so far…

The rest of the plane trip was uneventful, exactly the way I like my flights!  I was pretty tired after 25+ hours of traveling, and could not post an update until now.

The hotel is very clean and nice.  The food has been excellent.  The people have been very hard working and desiring to please their guests.

Mumbai is a bustling city with approximately 20 million people.  The traffic is crazy and this would be the case even if the infrastructure and roads could be built at a pace to keep up with the city’s growth, which I can tell you is not possible based on what I have seen.  There are some very nice buildings, and many buildings that are empty and probably going to be demolished and rebuilt.

I will post site seeing and related posts in the coming days!  Thank you for reading.
